Doing Business in North Welland

About Us

Our mandate is to promote and beautify North Welland and create an atmosphere of prosperity for our member businesses.

A prime location in the city of Welland, the North Welland commercial district has supported businesses for many years. The area is comprised of a vibrant mix of many long-standing independent businesses, as well as successful franchises and anchor (well-known) businesses.

The North Welland commercial district is ideally located on or near several major Niagara highway routes and Welland’s Seaway Mall. Centrally located, North Welland is only 5 minutes away from the downtown, 25 minutes from Niagara Falls and the United States border.

Moreover, with many free municipal parking lots and an abundance of parking on side streets, North Welland is a very accessible shopping area.

The shaded areas below are a rough sketch of the North Welland BIA catchment area.

Our Mission

The NWBIA catchment area is Niagara Street from just North of Quaker and extends south to include both strip plazas on Thorold road. We also extend up Woodlawn extension to include the Seaway Mall.

All businesses within the catchment area are automatically included in the NWBIA. A portion of all business taxes (approximately 1%) fund the BIA.

Our mandate is to promote and beautify North Welland.

Our past initiatives have included lamp pole decorations, street banners, seasonal decorations of Niagara Street and co-op advertising. We have also financially supported many City events including New years Party, Rose Festival, Niagara Food Festival, 3 on 3 Basketball, and the Last Chance Car Show to name a few. Some past project include erecting a Welcome to Welland sign along Woodlawn Road and the “Adopt a Road” program with the Welland Boy Scouts. Check our social media pages for current project updates!

The NWBIA meets monthly at convenient times for those who wish to attend. Traditionally we will not meet in the summer months and December. Check our main page for next meeting dates and times.
